With over two decades in the tattoo industry, Matt specializes in black & gray, American traditional, Japanese, wildlife, pet portraits, Polynesian, fine line, tribal, Celtic, religious, demonic, anime, & biomechanical styles.


He started his career in 2003 in San Diego, CA, apprenticing with Kent 'The Dixie Devil' Keaton at Body Art Tattoo. Upon moving back to the East Coast, Matt then worked for the legendary J.D. Crowe at Ancient Art Tattoo in Chesapeake, VA, for 4 1/2 years. From there, he spent 14 years at Folk City Tattoo in Suffolk, VA.

Sporting 17 years as a professional tattoo artist, Melon will meet your high standards. You may recognize him from his time at Folk City Tattoo in Ahoskie, NC from 2015-2017. He also owned Endangered Tattoo in Ahoskie, NC from 2017 to 2024. Melon has worked several tattoo conventions over the years in Morgantown & Huntington, West Virginia, along with the Virginia Beach and Hampton, Virginia Tattoo Arts Festivals.

The NEW Spring West Virginia Tattoo Expo is here! Located at the Morgantown Event Center, the expo will run April 10th – 12st, 2026. There will be on-site tattooing and piercing from over 200 artists, multitudes of vendors, contests, a Miss Tattooed West Virginia pageant, and more! This will be the premier tattoo event in the state. The expo is open to the public, and kids under 12 are free with a paying adult.
